Join Seven Directions® Breathwork & Liminal Connections for an open discussion on the importance of building mental health awareness into our practice and our lives.


October 10th is World Mental Health Awareness Day but in truth, every day should hold awareness of what 'mental health' really means. Understanding when certain challenges exceed the scope of self or practitioner management is crucial for both individuals and facilitators.


It's important to know (in our lives and in our practice) when to refer oneself or those we work with, to specialist services. It's not enough NOT to have referral networks and practice guidelines in place any more, but it can sometimes be hard knowing where and how to start building awareness and creating good systems. We are inviting this dialogue as a way of collaboratively brainstorming ideas for increased awareness and better practice standards.


This discussion will cover key signs that indicate the need for expert intervention, how to find the right specialists, how to make consenting, non shaming ethical referrals, and the importance of collaboration within health and community networks.


There will be a reflection and support space after the talk with Steph Magenta and Amanda Davis when attendees will have the opportunity to share their experiences and ask questions confidentially and anonymously, with guidance from trained practitioners for connection and support.

Who we are:


Amanda Davis is a Registered Mental Health Nurse who recently left the NHS to focus her support on offering holistic Emotional and Mental wellbeing support as a Mentor, Trainer and Breathwork Therapist.


Over her years of service in mental health she has supported thousands of adults, including NHS, local authority, education and private healthcare staff, expectant and new parents, and people who have experienced mild, moderate, and serious mental health challenges across inpatient wards, community and specialist mental health teams. Her experience enables her to compassionately recognise the cause and effect of health, social, economic, cultural, spiritual and relational experiences, and provide recommendations, advice and support in coming into to life balance.


She has worked in many services, including maternity, eating disorders, community and crisis mental health services, GP surgeries, and specialist perinatal and personality disorder services, and sat on nursing executive and speaking up panels and platforms to tackle bullying, racism, and the need for compassionate healthcare. The common theme which led her on her path of leaving her recent NHS post was systemic oppression creating unmanageable levels of disturbing experiences for adults receiving mental and social health support, and the healthcare staff supporting these individuals.


Moving away from these prescriptive ways of working have enabled Amanda to help and support people through a loss of innocence for social justice with anti-oppressive and liberating methods for people to reclaim themselves and their autonomous choices. She now works with a team of complementary therapists and regulated practitioners to support individuals, holistic practitioners, and public sector staff to prioritise healthy balanced community collectives and living.


Amanda has lived-experience of personal and family mental health difficulties and neurodiversity.

Steph Magenta is the founder and lead teacher for Seven Directions® Breathwork Training. Steph has a background in addiction services focusing on harm reduction information and family support. She also has over three decades of working with sexual freedom advocacy and activism and is committed to walking a path of authentic relating, trauma awareness, and inclusive non-hierarchical ways of learning and living.


She is a mother of three adult children, a shamanic practitioner and an avid explorer of consciousness, and a large part of her life's work is devoted to walking with core shamanic teachings as a way to maintain alignment in how she moves through life. In her sixth decade, Steph now officially classifies herself as an elder in her communities.
